On 30/10/25 we sculpted some Halloween-themed clay models to celebrate Catrin joining the Hawkins group. Some of us even attempted DNA replication themed models!
Juliana attended The Biology and Physics of Prokaryotic Chromosomes VII conference at the National STEM Learning Centre in York from the 16th-19th of September. Juliana presented her recent cryo-EM data and her poster was very well received. It was great to introduce the mysteries of termination to a wider audience.
Catrin Pickering began her PhD (Yorkshire Bioscience DTP) in the Hawkins lab on the 15th of September. Catrin will be investigating how helicases prevent collisions between replication and transcription machinery.
